New TV help

Post by bowski477 on Wed Jan 20, 2010 1:18 pm

Ok I'm looking into buying a new TV after i get money back after taxes. I don't really want to spend more than $500 and I was thinking about 32inches.

What do you guys think in regards to brands and specifications?

If you are going 32" under $500 I would go with the below TV.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001T9N0D0?tag=ltbg-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=B001T9N0D0&adid=04SC2SS6HNDRTFVCABE1&

That is a pretty bad ace tv for the price.

Many people will say that you don't need 1080p for anything less than 40" to get good quality. I can't really speak to that but you can pickup great 720p TV's for <$500

My personal favorite manufacturer is Samsung but I am not seeing any 32" 1080p for under $500. Best I could find for that is below.

I agree with immerume2 on the samsung. here is another site with specs for that same samsung he posted. Amazon price is much better though.
32' samsung
one of the great things about the samsung is its Game mode which that 32 in has. From what I have read Microsoft help samsung design the HD tvs with the game modes to better serve the xbox 360 users. The Game mode is suppose to turn off the processor inside the tv and basicly make it a monitor for fast response times while gaming. This idea/technology may have been added to other tvs by now though.
LG are not bad overall. But if you are looking for top of the line pictures for just watching tv or movies Panasonic is the way to go. here is a link to a panasonic.37' panasonic
All links I have posted are 720p/1080i picture formats. I have a 50' samsung plasma and its only 720p/1080i and I love it. To me HD is HD whether its 1080i or 1080p I cant tell a big difference.

I am an avid ebay user but im pretty sure i would never use it for a big purchase such as this. I might be able to go more than $500. All depends on what i get back after taxes/what i get for bday money.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! Im thinking samsung. i like the sounds on that game mode slack was talking about. I'll have to look into that.

That is the exact same TV I have. I think it is great. Some folks don't like the sound but I think it sounds great. Who knows. You aren't going to get theater quality sound out of a TV... Buy a system.

As soon as I reorganize I post some pics.

I do have speakers so as soon as I pick an RCA cable tonight those will be all set. But the sound on the TV itself isnt half bad for TV speakers. Agreed if you want quality sound get a system. The people who complain like that feel you should get system sound from the tv itself. It doesnt work like that lol
