Is Tactical Knife "n00bish" If.....

Post by KNO1ATALL on Wed Jan 20, 2010 10:02 pm

So what do you guys think?

If you use a Tactical Knife, Marathon, LIghtweight, and Commando, is it what some of you consider "n00bish"?

I know that the devs probably saw this coming. To be honest, I think it is fun, if it is used for the following:

A) When ya run outta ammo
B) If your competing with a friend to see how many kills you can get

I use my MP5K with it, and when I run out, I resort to the knife. Some people call it n00bish, others say it's smart.

So post away!

Sometimes I'm almost better with it than using my guns...like for instance I'll have a bad match and go like 7-5 with a gnu the next match I'll use my pistol-tactical knife class, and go like 22-9...

I find it difficult to call the class noobish.. You have no long range capabilities if you're only knifing, and lower power if you do shoot once in a while. All in all, IMO, it takes some skill to use.

Very true plus if you get seen by someone you need to be able to find a quick escape route or just try to weave away out of his gun fire and go for the rushing knife...lol which is my personal favorite because at the end of the match those dudes are pissed.

Absolutely not.

First, as others have said, if you're only using the knife, you're obviously limiting yourself to melee encounters.

Second, it takes some know-how to get close enough to the enemy without getting yourself killed. Sure, you can go 10-20 having fun with the knife, but it's not easy to have a 2.0k/d when doing so.

No... not really. My mates can hardly survive doing it. I seem to be one of the few on my XBL friends list that plays MW2 that can actually do it. It is pretty fun running around like a chicken with it's head cut off!

I don't really believe any weapon or setup is 'noobish'. Everyone has access to each weapon, the choice of if you want to use it is up to you.

Sure the tactical knife is effective in close range encounters. But it's also has 0% effectiveness at mid/long range. Actually guns are effective at close, mid and long range, so should they be labeled noobish for having an advantage over a knife? Nope.

Very very true, but I noticed for myself anyways that if you do matches with just knifing your and switch back to an assault rifle or something your awareness of places that you can get to cover to when your being shot at is much sharper instead of just standing there shooting trying to find the person.

Tactical would be using Coldblooded or Ninja, something like that. Using Marathon, Lightweight, and Commando is just running like a headless chicken hoping you find someone to stab.

Tactical means being smart and making good choices as how to flank and get behind them you don't need cold-blooded and ninja to be a tactical player, see with knifing you need to be able to get to have a plan as from which buildings you are going to just run through and have an escape route planned out just encase you get into trouble.

lol, I don't think I want to get into this...

I'll just say this, I think its funny how people can think its "tactical" to bring a knife to a gun fight

I think people should go try this "tactic" on HC and see how many kills they can get, if you can go positive, then kudos, if you record it and even manage a throwing knife or 2 in, I'll give you a cookie, lol

flanking isn't so hard when you know where your enemies are

everyone wants to think they're ninja....

Yeah I kind of agree, now I kind of stopped using that knife class now because I'm working on gaining XP faster by doing weapon challenges to level up faster, and it almost seems like core to me only with better gun damage, because I don't pay attention to the mini-map when I'm gaming unless a UAV is turned on in core then I'll get to a spot and look at it, other than that I'm usually always on the move and keeping my eyes on the screen, plus I never watch my killcams anyways, the only down fall to hardcore is the easiness to kill someone sure it's more realistic, but I mean it's not the type of mode if you know you just want to mess around and have fun, hardcore is more of a serious slow paced match, but I'm a fast paced type of guy which is why I stay in core.

been there, done that. I only play HC and in HC TDM I was going for just knife kills (of any kind) and ended the game at 22-6 with 4 or 5 throwing knife kills. This was on Skidrow and I mainly stuck to the upper level of the middle building. I've had some other decent games doing the same thing but not as well as that game. I don't think it's hard to go positive doing just the knifing in HC... it just takes more sneaking around and more flanking.

Pretty much I went and played some HC today and I basically gave up with my gun because every time I'd go to shoot someone one of me teammates would be trying to knife him and I'd kill both of them and then my teammate is all pissed and starts cussing me out which is probably why I prefer core that way nothing like that happens and people don't get so pissed off about it.

The tactical knife by itself isn't noobish, but there's almost no defense against commando in close quarters...
The amount of times i've been knifed across a room is ridiculous...

The thing is though you have to be at the right distance for commando to make you "jerk" forward to kill someone trust me I would enter a room with my tactical knife class set-up and click the knife and it wouldn't do anything I'd miss and get owned so you have to be able to judge your distance with commando before knifing, plus if you just keep backing up they will more than likely miss you on the knife.
