Do you approve of modded controllers?

Post by bowski477 on Fri Sep 25, 2009 7:38 pm

I look at it as cheating and do not approve of using or selling them. Plus if Microsoft catches you, you can get susspended or a console ban. I would never risk it.

I dislike modded controllers and i dislike people that use them. As i said in another thread, people that use them lack the skill to play legit. I feel that anyone caught using them should be banned from XBL as it is a form of cheating.

Modded controllers ruin Public online play. When it comes down to it, they are nothing more than a gigantic waste of money used to make weak minded people feel good about themselves rather than finding virtue in honest competition. battle

I definately don't approve of them, but they don't bother me as much any more. I do agree that it's pretty sad that players will spend upwards of $100 to try to gain an advantage in a video game.

Now I do want to say this. IMO modded controllers and rapid fire controllers are the same thing regardless whether rapid fire controllers are licensed and mods aren't. The purpose of rapid fire controllers are to gain an advantage in games that use the face buttons, like Street Fighter. To me, that's no different than using a mod in COD or Halo.

Even the new MW2 controllers with the buttons on the bottom will give a slight advantage to the players that use Tactical button setup. Instead of having to take your thumb off the stick to knife someone, you can just hit the bottom button with your finger. Is that cheating or is it just considered an advantage? IDK, that's my $.02.

My answer is NO.

I don't see the point of playing a game for enjoyment, then having to use a cheat such as a modded controller to get that enjoyment.

Play the game as it was originally intended I say

I do not approve of them at all, it takes no amount of "skill" to hold down a button to make something shoot faster then you physically can. Why not just a fully automatic weapon such as the G36C instead of wasting money on the controller or getting an unfair advantage. As I said in the fire rate cap thread, I could shoot the G3 pretty fast, someone I know that does have a modded controller said I was shooting about the speed of the 3rd setting out of 4, but I also lose most of my ability to aim around to do that. I was pretty angry that they did this patch due to the modded controller use and it didn't even really fix it for them, it only handicapped people like myself.

Yea its pretty sad when they have to patch a game due to cheating mod users.

No, its cheating, plain and simple. Not to mention you don't gain any advantage by using them.

That still doesn't put them on my level with anything other than both of us using a semi-auto. If I switch to any other weapon when the use a mod, they don't stand a chance against me unless the shoot me from behind or unless I am fighting multiple people on their team including them.

True, true I never had a problem against those people, in fact I didnt know anything about that kinda stuff till they put in the update

I guess that is why I never felt a difference when they put in the update, tho hahaha

I still noticed a huge difference with that patch, someone I know that had a mod tested how fast I shot compared to him and he said I was keeping up with the 3rd speed setting out of 4. I don't feel like I can fire the G3 or pistols at a decent rate at all anymore, I can take someone in a 1 on 1 with it, but put me against multiple people and I am basically dead now since I mostly play core modes. Oh well, now I just have to use the semi-auto weapons in hardcore for the most part since I will still stand a chance against multiple enemies that way.

Not really all that funny to me, a garbage player is a garbage player regardless of whether they use this type of cheat or not. They are only going to be able to kill other bad players with it, so it doesn't really make a difference. I would much rather have modded controllers around then the freaking Overgrown glitch still, I am getting sick of having to vote that map every time because some trash player has to get under the map. Don't take that the wrong way either, I still don't approve of them, it just doesn't really help them but so much and there were bigger problems they could have fixed over this.

Well, sucks be to them. Come MW2 (hopefully and prayerfully) it will be glitch free. MapMonkies better now suck at beta testing it. They sucked in WaW.. no offense to any MM fans here.
