THE RIOT SHIELD: advantages and disadvantages

Post by SergeantHatredx on Mon Dec 14, 2009 11:27 am

its all how you use it. charging people isn't the only use of the shield. when there's a turret in a narrow hallway, you crouch with the shield and walk towards it(deflecting all the bullets) then melee it to destroy the turret. also you can distract your enemy with the shield, meaning they'll be trying to kill you(shooting your shield repetitively) while your teammate sneak up and kill them, or let them shoot your shield till they need to reload then switch to your secondary and shoot them.
----------------------------------------
that's what I do with the shield, again it all depends. and even adding a throwing knife can help the shield wielding class.
-------------------------------------
THE SHIELD IS UNBREAKABLE BUT MOST OF YOU ALREADY KNOW THAT. BUT HERE ARE SOME WEAKNESSES YOU MAY OR MAY NOT KNOW.
1)if not crouched their feet are exposed
2)the arm that hold the shield
3)if they look up their whole body is exposed
4)whenever using a throwing knife they expose themselves, in order to throw it
--------------------------------------------------------
a great advantage over shields is this class type:
*MP5N w/ silencer(or any other sub-machine gun, don't matter)
*USP w/ tactical knife(or any pistol with a tactical knife)
*Semtex
*stun x2
*marathon pro
*lightweight pro
*commando pro -or- ninja pro
(reason for class: you can easily run behind and knife them before they can melee let alone turn around)(second reason: the sub-machine is the lightest primary weapon so you run faster with than any other primary, and the tactical knife has a 3x faster stabbing rate than a normal knife, and a faster weapon recovery to shoot)

I have yet to find a good reason to use the riot shield outside of objective games or just plain messing around. Even then, it almost seems easier just to pick people off when you see them. As far as using it to get close to a Sentry Gun, if you have Cold Blooded on, the Sentry Gun doesn't even shoot at you. Riot Shields ARE really fun to F around with though, I'll give them that. Very Happy

Yeah i too have found no real reason to use this unless your playing objective based games, that said getting into the HQ sitting in corner and watching all the bullets fly at you is rather fun,lol

yeah i agree, but my focus was if your not level 25 or you just prestiged and haven't reached 25(the level you get cold blooded).

I only use the riot shield for challenges, I usually play FFA, But the best is messing with unskilled people with it. I love walking up to people ducked down and shield out. While their emptying the clip and yelling in the mic "get away" & "leave me alone". LOL!!! I love it.

I have been trying the riot shield every now and again. i get frustrated though because im such a run and gunner. I get impatient lol. I plan to keep trying though so I can get challenges.

I played a game yesterday with some friends and we actually had a guy follow me around and stay behind me. It was tdm but still a lot of fun and pretty effective. I went like 1-7 but he had an above average game, even for his standards.
