iPod Touch Apps/Games

Post by MaTtKs on Sun Dec 27, 2009 2:42 pm

After much resistance, I've finally joined the Apple Army and have myself and iPod Touch.

I need some suggestions on Apps/Games/etc to start out with. As far as Twitter goes, I'm really liking Tweetdeck, but if you guys or girls know of a better app let me know. I also downloaded N.O.V.A. which is a pretty cool multiplayer FPS that looks a lot like HALO.

So let's hear it. What are some cool games or apps that I need to download? Thanks.

2: Paper Toss-Random Game- Looks really dumb but its really addicting-FREE
3: 19-1 game-Has 19 games & an AC130 game similar to COD4's mission.-I got it for 99cents but not sure what price is now
4: Google Earth-Kinda cool you can zoom in on houses and places-FREE-REQUIRES INTERNET
5: ESPN-Scorecenter-Good for sportsfan-not sure if you are 1-FREE_requires internet.

I have the iPhone, and i think they do just about everything the same, except for the phone features and GPS, so I would definitely recommend -

ESPN Scorecenter - to keep up with those Cowboys! - Free
COD Zombies - Play solo or 4-player through a wi-fi connection/ and it has matchmaking! - $9.99
Tweetdeck - definitely my fav twitter client for iPhone/iPod - Free
Pandora Internet Radio - has any kind of music station you can think of, ability to skip songs! - Free
i.TV - I use this alot, portable TV guide with other features! - Free
PandoraBox - keeps up with all the new apps, and apps on sale, also can filter for Free apps only! - Free
Call of Duty World at War Companion - displays your WaW stats and CODHQ forums, nice! - Free
Fandango - shows everything movies! all your local theaters showtimes, and can buy tickets from your iPod - Free
Traffic Rush - overhead view of an intersection, get the cars through without crashing them, ultimate timewaster!! - Free
360 Live - gives you a 360 dashboard that shows what your friends are playing and can check/send messages - Free
Zynga Poker - if you like Texas Hold 'em Poker, get this app - its free and also an ultimate time waster!! haha - Free

Thanks. I have a few of those downloaded already, but I did download Pandorabox and found a few more cool apps.

Still debating whether I want to download CoD:WaW Zombies or not.

If anyone has anymore suggestions let me hear em'. Smile

The COD:WaW Zombies is really surprising, I thought it would be some lame knock-off (but bought it anyway Smile ), but it turns out it looks very very similar to the console version, and has all the features of the console version. Of course they even plan on releasing the same DLC in the future, starting with Zombie Asylum.

The only thing is it is hard to get a handle on the controls! I use the tilt function, but there are 2 other options to control your players "look" control.

It is the only APP that I have purchased, everything else I got free (with the help of PandoraBox!) If you ever have an extra 10 bucks, I would certainly recommend it, cuz if you can get the controls down and you like Zombies, you definitely wont be dissapointed.

I'd like to suggest EverNote.

  • Create text, snapshot, and voice notes any time

  • Snap photos of white board, business cards, or wine labels and Evernote will recognize the text in the images

  • Turn your iPhone on its side to scroll through an endless stream of notes.

  • Quickly find your note by location using Evernote's map view

  • For iPhone and iPod Touch

  • Requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later

  • To download, click the App Store button below

I'll check out Evernote later ^.

I ended up downloading the Call of Duty Zombies game and played a little bit. It's A LOT of fun. I'll have to party up with some of you that have it one night.

Here's a screenshot I took while trying to get the hang of the controls.

Well, I just purchased my 2nd app last nite, ESPN Radio - $2.99, pretty good, several ESPN radio stations available, podcasts of all the talk shows of the day, sports update anytime, sports ticker at bottom of home screen, and ability to launch in safari so you can listen while not being tied down to the one app (kinda like the music player allows u to check email etc. While listening)

Only thing is, once you have it launched in safari, you can't surf
the web without shutting it off Sad but still worth $2.99 IMO, listen to Mike & Mike anytime, Football Today, and all the other shows anytime with the podcast!

Great buy!

I'm still looking for a good app to keep track of my sports interests. I may check out the ESPN app.

Indeed it would. That's actually something that's ran across my mind over the past few days.

I may look into what all goes into it, who could do it, etc. Smile

Well, the iPhone SDK is a Developer Kit to make iPhone / iPod Touch Apps. Though you might want it. Just trying to help out.

Oh I know, and thanks for the help. I'm just saying I'm willing to bet the farm that I would haven no idea what in the world to do with that stuff.

Like I said though, I'll see if I can find someone who would know what to do.

@majorrod before I go through the forms of iPhone developer, does the program work with vista and does any of that cost any money?

Thanks

The Windows Vista iPhone SDK will work with Vista, of coarse. We have not released a Windows 7 iPhone SKD yet, since it is a new Operating System. The Vista iPhone SDK has two different Programs... Standard, and Enterprise. The Standard iPhone SDK is priced at $99, the Enterprise iPhone SDK is priced at $299.

By the way, the reason I know this, is I work for Apple (Retail).

Unfortunately the Windows Version Cost Money. The Mac Version is free, since it is a Native Program with the Mac Operating System.
